Disney has announced/updated the Release dates of a number of films today, full list below. Here are two I want to discuss further.
Star Wars IX
Star Wars Episode IX has been bumped up to a May 24th Release Date in 2019. This is six months sooner than originally anticipated with the most recent two preceding films being released in December. This is great news and I am eagerly awaiting Episode VIII later this year and all of the accompanying LEGO sets to tide me over until Episode IX!
Indiana Jones 5
Indiana Jones 5 has been officially confirmed and given a July 10, 2020, release slot! Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my all time favorite movies with its combination of action, humor, adventure, romance, and suspense. I have enjoyed all of the Indiana Jones movies, even 4. Indy 4 had some concerns from viewers which has tempered the excitement for Indy 5, the biggest four concerns being the inclusion of Aliens, Shia casting, swinging on the vines and surviving the Nuclear test explosion in the refrigerator. I agree with two of the concerns, I feel Shia LaBeouf was miscast and they stretched a little far with him swinging in the trees with the monkeys. As for the other two, Indy has always been about the supernatural(Ark of the Covenant, Temple of Doom rituals, Holy Grail), & over the top sequences. Anyway, enough of my Indy talk/love, I am most excited about the LEGO Indiana Jones sets which should accompany the movie. I feel this would be a great opportunity to either update some of the previous sets as they do with Star Wars or create new ones based on the older movies as well as Indy 5. I would love some UCS sized sets around the Temple Escape in Raiders, the Temple of Doom, the Well of Souls and the Holy Grail temple. A Collectible Minifigure series, Brickheads and Buildable Figures would round out my wishlist for LEGO Indiana Jones.
